Lesser Influences

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have also incorporated heavy metal, which was a staple on three of their albums: The Uplift Mofo Party Plan, Mother’s Milk, and One Hot Minute. While it can be said that The Uplift Mofo Party Plan can be seen leaning towards hard rock with a punk aggressiveness than what is actually accepted as heavy metal, heavy metal was without a doubt a staple of Mother’s Milk (with Frusciante’s guitar creating a rhythmic mix of funk and metal) and One Hot Minute (with Dave Navarro incorporating numerous influences from his days with Jane’s Addiction). Other influences by the Peppers come from jazz (especially with songs such as “The Bicycle Song” and “Walkabout”), blues (an example would be “Walkin’ On Down The Road”), arena rock, progressive rock, and art rock.
